The Challenge: Sun Microsystems needed to provide its developers with hands-on demonstrations of the latest Web 2.0 technologies. This required advanced hosting capabilities where Sun engineers could launch their showcase applications for developers to try. In addition, Sun needed assistance in coordinating the deployment of application across various departments and the building of an on-line catalog which provides quick access to the applications.
The Solution: W. Hardy Interactive was hired by Sun to manage servers and hosting of advanced Java applications. We configured Solaris servers with Sun’s Application Server Enterprise Edition, and the open-source application server, GlassFish. This allowed us to deploy new applications that feature technologies such as Ajax, Phobos, jMaki, Dynamic Faces and more. We also assisted in coordinating efforts across various Sun departments to pull the applications together under one index page, with a standard set of documentation and downloadable code.
- Provided Managed Hosting Services: Configured and managed servers running Solaris, Sun’s Application Server EE and the open-source application server GlassFish.
Provided Project Management Services to manage the deployment of applications across engineering departments.
