The Challenge: Sun Microsystems needed a way for developers to quickly tour the latest release of NetBeans and Sun Java™ Studio Creator development tools. This would allow developers to both review the development tools in an interactive medium before downloading, and also learn about the tools and gain a quick understanding of their features.
The Solution: Sun Microsystems asked W. Hardy Interactive to develop two Quick Tours in Flash for both the NetBeans Integrated Development Environments (IDE) and Sun Java™ Studio Creator IDE. We produced and built the Flash programs to allow users to roll their mouse over a full-size rendering of the programs and learn from both visual and textual cues about the various features in these powerful IDE’s. XML integration allows Sun staff to change content within the IDE without requiring new Flash compilation.
